The breeding season of sea turtles has officially started and this year too, Sicily hosts the largest number of nests. Those managed by volunteers and WWF operators are 10, 8 in Syracuse and 2 in the province of Ragusa. In detail: one on the beach of Sampieri, in Scicli, 4 on the beach in the Gallina district and one in the Cicirata district of Avola, in the province of Syracuse; 2 in Noto, in the province of Syracuse, one in Eloro Pizzuta beach and the other in Lido di Noto; 2 in Isola delle Correnti (in Portopalo di Capo Passero). The first nest, a few days ahead of the season, was laid on May 25 on the Gallina beach, the others in the second half of June.
